The Association of Business Managers in Victorian State Schools is a Statewide organisation that has been in existence since the 1960's. The association has undertaken many name changes and developments over this period. Today we offer Educational Support staff who performs the Business, Administration, Finance or Personnel Management in a Victorian Government School, including a person in a relief position for at least twelve months the opportunity to be part of an Association that is in touch with your needs.
We work strategically with DEECD; the Victorian Principals Association (VPA), Victorian Association of Secondary School Principals (VASSP) and have strong links to our School Council Organisations: ASCIV and VICCSO.
The Association offers two Statewide meetings a year, generally in March and October. These meetings are beneficial in many ways as they provide professional development, topical speakers, and the Committee of Management reports on current issues.
Our three day residential conference is held each year to facilitate the ongoing professional development and collegiate networking for members, which is our prime focus. The annual conference attracts attendance by interstate Business Managers through our affiliation with the Australian Association of Government School Administrators (AAGSA).
The ABMVSS provides an opportunity for people with a common cause to come together, to gain support and knowledge from each other. The support that members receive from each other is one of the great benefits.
Our Association ensures that professional standards are enhanced and maintained through the ongoing provision of high quality professional development, including an annual Mentoring Program for members.
Our membership has grown to approx 600 members (including our first international member), as Business Managers and Education Support Staff realise the many benefits of being a member. Our growing membership base enables improved opportunities for communication with our peers and increases our influence with DEECD when dealing with current issues.
